Jeanne L Gross Obituary

Jeanne Loraine Gross, a lifelong Corsicana resident, passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2024 at

the Village at Heritage Oaks where she resided for over 20 years.

Jeanne, known as “Jeannie” to many, was born on June 9th, 1930 to her parents, Roger W. & Eva

L. Gross. She was cherished as their only child & was definitely a “Daddy’s Girl”. Jeanne quickly

excelled in academics and was voted “Most Scholarly” by her Corsicana High School graduating

class. She went on to earn a degree in liberal arts at Baylor University after studying art abroad

in Paris for several months. Always desiring to learn more, she later took graduate courses at

the University of Oklahoma. Quite active in her community, Jeanne was a founding member of

The Kinslow House, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), & First

Methodist Church in Corsicana. She was well versed in US History & loved sharing detailed

stories about life in the 1930’s – 1950’s. She was also passionate about the Baylor Bears &

Dallas Cowboys, rarely missing a football game! Despite years of physical challenges, Jeanne

never complained – her tenacity, optimism, warm smile, & keen sense of humor was enjoyed by

all who knew her.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Roger W. & Eva L. Gross of Corsicana. She is

survived by her Goddaughter, Kim Olson Carter, Randy Olson (Carol) & families of Lafayette

Louisiana.

All are welcome to attend a graveside service being held at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana on

Wednesday, July 10th at 10:00am. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at The

Village at Heritage Oaks for the exceptional love & care they extended to Jeanne throughout the

years. You went “above & beyond” & were like a “family” to her. We also greatly appreciate the

special care she received from the excellent staff of Bristol-Hospice – Pathways of Corsicana. In

lieu of flowers, please send donations in Jeanne’s memory to The Kinslow House of Corsicana
