Lorelei Sue Rutherford Obituary

Lorelei Sue Baker Rutherford

Age 85, of Alma, passed away Saturday July 6, 2024, with her family that loves her by her side at McKellar’s AFC in St. Louis.

Lorelei was born April 2, 1939, to the late Dan and Elsie Baker. Lorelei graduated from Ithaca High School. On February 24, 1957, she married Lewis Rutherford and together they raised three daughters: Loretta (Michael) Bessert, Leanette Munsell and Laura (Scott) Dolby. After 30 years Lorelei retired from the Alma Hospital, she enjoyed traveling, camping, music, dancing, doing sudoku puzzles, reading, she loved her church and helping others. Of all her loves, her family was always first. For that, and so much more, we will be eternally grateful. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind loving heart.

Along with Lorelei’s three daughters she is also survived by her grandchildren Melissa (Curtis) Fox, Brittney (Pat) Cook, Jim Munsell and Jared Munsell, great grandchildren Maddisen and Patrick Fox, Baby Cook coming soon, and Caden and Elijah Munsell, sisters Joan, Aurelia, Lilly, sisters-in-law Pearl, Mary, Sheryl and many other friends and family that loves her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis, son-in-law Richard Munsell and brothers Julius “Glen”, Victor, Richard and Char.

The family would like to thank Becky and Roger at McKellar’s as well as Rhonda, Coleen, Marsha and all of Lorelei’s caregivers including the Hospice Care Team. You became her family, and we hope you know what a comfort that was to all who love her.

Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 12:30 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Ithaca with a luncheon following at the Emerson Township Hall. The family requests donations to be made to Lorelei’s favorite charity St. Jude’s. She called them her “kids”. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
