Rev. Steven Jackson Taylor Obituary

Rev. Steven Jackson Taylor of Crawfordville went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the age of 82.

Steve was born on June 30, 1942 in Panacea, the son of Monroe and Minnie (Porter) Taylor. He would proudly serve his country in the Army National Guard and receive an honorable discharge. Steve would spend many years as a painting contractor, owning and operating ‘Steve Taylor Painting, LLC’. Above any and all other ventures, his ministry was where his heart was. He was the dedicated pastor at Christian Worship Center for thirty years. He had a heart for the youth and seeing that they knew the truth about Jesus. He also served as the principal for the Grace Christian Academy for ten years, overseeing the graduation of 21 students. Brother Steve Taylor was a man of integrity and honor.

In his spare time, Steve enjoyed building and tinkering around the home place and treasured time with his family. He was a dedicated husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Rochelle Smith, Robert Taylor, and Guy Taylor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 58 years: Mrs. Malissa A. Taylor; children: Hope (Robert) Combs and Kenneth (Mechelle) Taylor; grandchildren: Christina (Nathan) Tessmer, Mykah Taylor, Haylie (Chris) Miranda, Hannah (Jeremy) Taylor, and Hunter Kirkland; great-grandchildren: Cheyenne & Mann Miranda, Natalie Tessmer, Abby & Wyatt Rowan, Xander, Ana’Laya, Taylor, and K’Naria; siblings: Amos Taylor, Dorothy (Michael) Hall, Wanda Lynn, Mitchell (Rhonda) Taylor, and Ricky (Kathy) Taylor; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Harrell, Rick Harrell, John Robinson, Greg Brown, Tommy Haney, and Mark Hudson.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Christian Worship Center at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Interment will follow the services at Panacea Cemetery.
