Anna Louise Slater
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, retired secretary, and cat lover.
Anna L. Slater, known as Ann, 97, of Dover, NJ, died at home on July 6, 2024. She was born in Dover on May 27, 1927, and resided there for most of her life.
Ms. Slater attended Dover High School and earned her GED from Parsippany High School later in life. She worked as a switchboard operator for Hungerford Plastics and a secretary at Whippany Paper Board, Swan Manufacturing, and Wagner Electric. Ann loved animals--particularly cats. She had many cats throughout her life and for several years rescued and found homes for strays and volunteered at the Randolph Animal Shelter. Also, she was a long-time member of the Denville Golden Age and served as a poll worker for the Dover Board of Elections for many years.
In addition to her parents Charles and Rachel (Van Kirk) Slater, Ann was predeceased by her sisters Eileen Sweedy and Marilyn Carson, and a grandson Brent Caprino. Ann is survived by her daughters Linda Gobran and Kathaleen Pritchard and grandchildren James Caprino, Carrie Caprino, and William Douglas, as well as other loving family members and friends.
A memorial celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Ann has been entrusted under the care of Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown, NJ.
