Vee Ann Schmidt Obituary

Vee Ann Schmidt, age 68, Albany, died Saturday July 6, 2024 at home following an illness.  Born in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania on January 21, 1956, she moved to Indiana in 1967.  Vee Ann graduated from Connersville High School in 1973 and received a Bachelors degree from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan).  She was a school teacher for 34 years before retiring in 2011 from Knightstown Intermediate School.  She taught senior Government and eighth grade Social Studies from the same building throughout her career.  While teaching, she organized countless trips to D.C. for students and became a tour manager for similar trips after retirement.

Vee Ann belonged to Knightstown Tri Kappa Sorority, Knightstown United Methodist Church, and Coastal Carolina Quilters Club.  She enjoyed quilting, shopping, following politics, and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 20 years, Ronald J. Schmidt; daughter: Mary A. Carter, Albany; granddaughter: Madalyn Milner; sister: Lyn Berkebile (partner: Julie Marsh), Indianapolis; half-sisters: Pamela Dennis and Dana James (husband: Tim), all of Roaring Spring, PA; step-father: Grant McClelland, Roaring Spring, PA; step-children: Debra Orange-Miller, Indianapolis and Michael Schmidt, Raleigh, NC; and 3 nieces also survive.

She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents: Robert & Ardene Berkebile and biological mother: Beryl McClelland.

A celebration of Vee Ann's life will be held Sunday July 28, 2024 from 1 until 5 p.m. at The Wedding Factory in Albany.  This will be a time of visiting with family and friends; dress is casual and refreshments will be available.

Memorials may be sent to Animal Rescue Fund (A.R.F.) of Muncie in memory of Vee Ann.
