MaryAnn Eleanora McCormick Obituary

MaryAnn Eleanora Ramby McCormick of Marydel, MD passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on July 6, 2024, at the age of 87.


Born in Washington D.C. on October 7, 1936, to the late Charles William Ramby, and Emma Virginia (Smith). MaryAnn grew up in D.C. and graduated from Anacostia High School in 1955. During her childhood, she was a member of Girl Scouts of America and The International Order of Job’s Daughters. As a teenager in high school, she enjoyed square dancing. She met the love of her life Bob, and they were married on April 2, 1960, in Elkton, MD.


MaryAnn worked for the U.S. Federal Government. During her tenure, she spent time at the National Security Agency and Army Security Agency and wrote policies and procedures for the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) she retired in 1982.


MaryAnn was a member of Shrewsbury Episcopal Parish in Kennedyville, MD, she also was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and held many offices.


In 1990 MaryAnn and Bob moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and built their retirement home on their farm Sandy Brae. She enjoyed camping with her family and boating, she was a phenomenal baker, loved to shop on QVC, and enjoyed a good crossword puzzle but most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great granddaughter. to them she was Mom-Mom, she would love to watch their sporting events, enjoyed going to their local 4-H fair and watching all of them show their animals, or just sit and chat with them, they meant the world to her.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Carolyn V. Ferguson and Mildred Brown.


MaryAnn is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert W. McCormick, her daughters Susan Higgs (David) and Karen Rees. Grandchildren Laura (Tommy), Karla (Troy), Kevin (Brittany), Stephen (Mari), and Alex (Agustina), great-grandchildren, Kylei (Justin), Trey, Adam, Christopher, Conner, Ryan, Mariah and soon to be born Sawyer & one great-great-grand daughter Drue Ramby Dawkins, and a host of Nieces and Nephews.


A viewing will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 3-4pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. An Eastern Star service will begin at 4pm with funeral services to follow. Burial will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
