DONALD W. McKENNA Obituary

MCKENNA, DONALD W., 79, of West Greenwich, passed away with his loving family by his side at home on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Born in Providence, and raised in East Greenwich, he was a son of the late John and Violet (Wood) McKenna. 

Donald was a dedicated and hard worker. He was head custodian at the East Greenwich High School, a career that expanded for 35 years, before retiring. He also worked many nights at a second job in the East Greenwich Public Library. 

Donald was always known for having a cup of coffee in his hands whether it be Dunkin Donuts or a Cumberland Farms coffee. He enjoyed movies, taking rides, but especially spending time with his family, utmost his two grandchildren.

He was the beloved father and single parent of Kimberly Riendeau and her fiance Mike Brown of Barrington, New Hampshire and Beth Horne and her husband Anthony of West Greenwich. He was the grandfather of Andrew Horne and his wife Desiree and William Riendeau II. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John E. McKenna Jr., Robert McKenna, Ronald McKenna, Daniel “Henry” McKenna and Emma
Olson.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 pm with a Memorial Service 1:30 pm in the Iannotti Funeral at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., Coventry (I95,exit 18, Rte.3), followed interment at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alpine Nursing Home Activities Department, 557 Weaver Hill Rd., Coventry, RI 02816 or Beacon Hospice, 1130 Ten Rod Rd., Ste. A205, North Kingstown, Ri 02852 would be appreciated.
