Linda J. Russell- Gallivan Obituary

Linda Russell-Gallivan affectionately known as “Miss Linda”, 72, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 6th.

She was born on March 4th, 1952 to Robert and Mary (Andreason) Hatfield. She grew up in Burlington Massachusetts and went on to attend Burlington High school.

Linda will be remembered most for her eternal optimism and for being the most devoted mother, loving wife, sister, auntie, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many.

In addition to her children, her greatest accomplishment was founding Joy of Dance in Northwood, NH which she owned and operated for 22 years. Linda was more than just a dance teacher, she was a dedicated mentor and second mom to all of her students. Her passion for inclusivity, self-confidence and body acceptance were tightly woven into the fabric of her business. Joy of Dance was just that to Linda, joy of her students and of teaching dance and she is so proud to have her passion live on today and in the hearts of all her ballerinas.

When Linda wasn’t teaching dance you could find her nurturing her gardens, relishing in family gatherings and enjoying her backyard oasis.

Linda is survived by her children Jodie Branco and life partner Joshua Sanchez, Tim Branco and wife Jessica Branco, Nikki LeBlanc and husband Ryan LeBlanc, and Robbie Russell, her husband William Gallivan, her mother Mary Hatfield, brother Robert Hatfield and wife Grace Hatfield, brother Mark Hatfield and wife Kathaleen Hatfield, grandchildren Zach Branco and wife Carley Branco, Emma Leblanc and Maeve LeBlanc, great grandchild Desmond Branco as well as many nieces and nephews. She also adored her beloved dogs Dolce and Daisy Mae. Linda is predeceased by her father, Robert Hatfield Sr.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to NH Dance Institute’s REACH program which provides free dance classes and performance opportunities to children with a wide range of neurological, cognitive, emotional and physical challenges. Friends and family can do so through the donate button on their website at www.nhdi.org or by sending a check to New Hampshire Dance Institute, 25 Roxbury Street, Keene, NH 03431.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road Rt. 4, Lee, NH.

Guests are encouraged to wear their “ballet best” or joyful attire in celebration of Linda’s warm, positive, radiant spirit.
