Delwood J. Michael, age 85, of Bluff City, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. He was born on March 24, 1939, in Abingdon, Va., a son of the late John and Nell Cornett Michaels. Delwood lived most of his life in the Bluff city area and retired from Davis Pipe. He also worked for Modern Forge, Walmart and Burlington Textile. Delwood was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bertie Mae Owens Michaels.


Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Arnold and husband Tim, Judy Chapman, Louise McReynolds and husband Mark; son, Robert Michaels; grandchildren, Krissi White and husband Bobby, Jill Blankenship and husband Scott, Scotty Woodlief and wife Karla, Nicholas Michaels and wife Makayla, Austin Michaels and wife Kayla, Paige Leab and husband Austin; great grandchildren, Isaiah White, Noah White and wife Alyssa, Abigail White, Amelia White, Isabella Blankenship, Kobe Blankenship, Noah Michaels, Lincoln Michaels, Caroline Michaels, Kolt Michaels, Vanessa Leab, Camden Leab, Kenzie Leab, Weston Michaels, and Alexander Michaels; great-great granddaughter, Finnleigh White; sister, Gaynell Gardner and husband Eddie; and sister-in-law, Jean Michaels.


The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Sproles, Rev. Tim Michaels, and Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Sunrise Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clayton Arnold, Marvin Arnold, Jack Owens, Charles Owens, Frank Owens, Fred Owens, Jeff Michaels, Austin Leab, Mark McReynolds, and Tim Arnold. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Michaels, Nicholas Michaels, Scotty Woodlief, Rusty Yates and Bill Yates.
