Oda Owal Inglis, Jr., 86, of Earlington, KY passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at River’s Bend Retirement Center in Kuttawa, KY.

He was born in Earlington, KY on March 12, 1938 to the late Oda O. Inglis, Sr. and Ovelia Inglis. 

Oda was a member of Earlington Christian Church and attended Nebo Christian Church.

He served in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserves.  He was awarded the Soldier’s Medal, which is the highest peacetime medal presented by the Army one can receive for an act of valor. This medal was awarded due to an act of bravery Oda and three fellow officers exhibited by saving a six-year-old girl who had fallen through the ice of a frozen pond.

Oda loved to fish, tell fishing stories, travel, spend time with family and friends, was an avid UK fan, and a masterful prankster.

 He had worked as a civil engineer and was the owner of Associated Engineers for over forty-five years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda F. Inglis in 2010; his sister, Leona (Fran) Whitfield, brother-in-law, Donald (Ruth) Patterson.

Oda is survived by his daughter, Staci Inglis Lamb of Madisonville, KY; his son, Stan (Chantay) Inglis of White Plains, KY; cherished companion, Carol Watkins of Nebo, KY; sister, Sharon (Mac) Coffman of Madisonville, KY; brother- in- law, Richard (Shirley) Patterson of Richland, KY; four grandchildren, Danielle (Cameron) Speirs, Nathanial (Chelsey) Inglis, Justin (Hillary) Lamb, Kristian (Doodlyn) Colas; eight great grandchildren, Connor Speirs, Duncan Speirs, Bennett Inglis, Callie Inglis, Booker Lamb, Halle Lamb, Nylah Colas, and Zyan Colas; caregiver, Laurine Davis of Madisonville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Rev. Howard Crowe officiating and Bro. Dennis Mayfield assisting. Burial with military rites performed by 101st Airborne Ft. Campbell and the Hopkins County Honor Guard to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington, KY.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Justin Lamb, Nathanial Inglis, Rusty Marks, Jeff Patterson, Connor Speirs, and Duncan Speirs.

Memorial contributions can be made to Puzzle Pieces. Donations may be made online at www.puzzle-pieces.org or mailed and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
