Buddy Elbridge Bray Obituary

Buddy Elbridge Bray, 83, of 215 Courtney Street, Danville, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at his home peacefully. He was born on December 11, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Robert Elbridge Bray and Gladys Smith Bray.


Buddy was a member of White Oak Worship Center. He loved going to church and worshipping his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed being around his family and friends. He loved hunting and going fishing on his boat with his sons and son in laws as often as they could go. He enjoyed his lawn work and riding his mower. He worked at Dan River Mills Inc. for 45 years, previous to his retirement. On June 15, 1969, Buddy married Peggy Neal Groff Bray and they were married for 55 years.


Buddy is survived by seven children; Darrell Bray (Darlene), Kathy Barbour Adkins (Bill), Teresa Barbour, Nancy Barbour Terry (Billy), Robert Bray (Christy), Samuel Bray (Heather), and Frances Bray (Jeramy); ten grandchildren; Heather (Brian), Quincy (Eva), Matthew (Kristen), Brendan, Morgan (Zay), Nathan, Justin, Josh, Caleb and Hadleigh; 6 great grandchildren; D.J., Makenzie, Jacob, Mariano, Stetson and Courtland; and sister in law; Bonnie Bray.


In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by his brother; Kenneth Wayne Bray.


A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 11:00am at Norris Funeral Services Inc., Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540 with Pastor Roger Ewing officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 10-11:00am,
