A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and human being, Jerri Ann (Messersmith-Hooko) Heinickle was called back to the heavens to be with her daughter, Barbara, and husband, John. She passed unexpectedly on Saturday night of July 6, 2024. She is survived by her two sons, James and Robert Hooko and Robert’s wife Amy, her sisters Janet and husband Leo Hildebrand, and Cathie Messersmith, her grandchildren Quiersti, Quinnten, Chelsey, Gabrielle, Emma, and Reagan. She also had a step-daughter Cindy Smith. She is predeceased by her brother Douglas Messersmith and his wife Cindy, her parents Ivan and Priscilla Messersmith, as well as her daughter Barbara Hooko. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as her great grandchild Lennex. Jerri graduated high school in 1963 from Vestal High School. She went on to Triple Cities School of Beauty. She worked at Broome Developmental for 23 years and retired in 2007. She loved working with the disabled at the center. Jerri loved gardening, bowling, the NY Giants, and the NY Yankees. She was most proud of her children’s accomplishments and watching her grandchildren grow into young men and women. She lived to be a mother and grandmother to all. She was a member of the VFW. She also was a driver for the BC and Dick’s golfing tournaments. She also was an active member of the Johnson City Primitive Methodist Church. She was an avid collector of lighthouses amassing several dozen throughout the years. She had many friends and acquaintances and touched the lives of many individuals. She will be missed and loved by all. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon at the Barber Memorial Home 428 Main Street Johnson City. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at 11am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, Jerri requests a donation to a diabetic charity.
