Wilburn Eugene Mott Obituary

Wilburn Mott

Wilburn Eugene Mott, 75, of Leander, TX passed away on Saturday, July 6,2024. Wilburn was born on January 31, 1949 on one of the coldest days recorded in Austin, TX, at -2 degrees below zero.

He was a graduate of Pflugerville High School, Class of 1967. Wilburn excelled in all sports. He won the Gold Medal in Shot Put at the Texas UIL state track and field meet.

After his completion of high school, Wilburn went on to join the United States Navy, where he served his country during the Vietnam War.

After completing his service in the US Navy, Wilburn went on to be a successful salesman in the wholesale beauty supply industry across Central Texas. It was during that time that he met and married his wife, Barbara.

Wilburn loved spending time with his family and friends, reminiscing of old times growing up in Pflugerville. His favorite hobby was working on his electric train collection. He enjoyed going to Texas high school football games and track meets. Wilburn loved talking, making connections, and telling stories with anyone who was around him.

He’s proceeded in death by his parents Charles and Gladys Mott. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 52 years, son Barry Mott (Chrissie), daughter Hillary Calahan (Jeremy), and four granddaughters, brother Dr. Charles Mott (Vernagene), Jimmy Mott (Pat), sister Terri Stifflemire (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Although Wilburn will be truly missed, we have peace that comes with knowing that he is with his Creator Lord and Savior, that we will see him again one day.

Visitation will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with a memorial service following at 12:00pm at Beck Funeral Home, 1700 E. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park, TX.
