James S. Tisserand Obituary

James Seraph Tisserand, 91, of Newburgh, died peacefully Saturday, July 6,, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Jim was born February 8, 1933 in Evansville to the late John Bertrand and Elizabeth Tisserand.

Jim was Valedictorian of the Reitz Memorial High School Class of 1951. He was a graduate of St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. Soon after graduation, he moved to his beloved New York City to begin his 42 year career in management of single-screen movie theaters in Manhattan. His love of film and cinema continued throughout his entire life. Jim had a passion for the arts in all forms.

Jim is survived by sisters Marian Burger, Las Vegas, NV and Martha Ryan, Albany, NY; and sister-in-law, Joanne Tisserand and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. J.B. Tisserand; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Thomas Burger, George Ryan, and Dr. Gerald Luebbe; and twin sister, Sarah Luebbe.

At Jim’s request, there will be no visitation or services. Private burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville.

Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.
