Flora “Marie” Tomac, widowed wife of Steve Tomac, passed away surrounded by family on July 2, 2024 at the age of 96. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Grace McPherson.
Marie was born in Wheeler, Michigan, on October 14, 1927. She had a deep affection for birds (especially cardinals), dogs, and babies. Marie lived independently on the farm that she loved up until the last 3 months of her life. She especially loved her family, and tending to the many plants in her yard as well as a variety of plants that filled the corner windows of her kitchen. Activities she was particularly fond of included dancing the polka and playing cribbage and Euchre. Along with her family, Marie had many friends. She knew someone everywhere she went.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Roy and Grace McPherson; her husband, Steve; her daughter, Mary Jo; Brothers: Claire and Lyle; Sisters: Violet and Lillian; grandchildren: Dawn and Bart.
She is survived by: her sister, Marilyn Ives; her children: Steve (Jerry Lynn) Tomac, John (Jody) Tomac, Danny Tomac, Mikky Tomac (John Berardi), Marie Ann Tomac, Randy (Salle) Tomac; and grandchildren: Tracy (Nathan) McCauley, Stephen ( Troy) Tomac, Deanna Tomac, Angel (Bob) Barton, Becky (Aaron) Tomac-Young, Johnny (Kathy) Tomac, Aaron Imhoff, Nathan (Jill) Tomac, Isaac (Christal) Tomac, Joseph (Davy) Conners, Hannah Melinec Conners, Jared Conners, Melissa Hogan, Vincent (Christiane) Hogan, Nick (Cara) Hogan, Jessica Tomac, Kameron Tomac, Russ (Michele) Cunningham, Angela (Bob) Lusk, and Rachel Lammer. Marie also had numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 12:30pm and will be held at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home at 816 E. Main St, Carson City. Visitation will begin Friday from 10:30am until time of services at the funeral home. We hope you can join us to celebrate Marie. Interment will be in Middlebury Cemetery, Ovid at a later date.
