Leonard Bernard Davis Jr., 75, of Chaptico, MD, passed away on July 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Bernie, as known by many, was born on December 13, 1948, in Chaptico, MD to Leonard (Len) B. Davis Sr. and Lillian (Brookbank) Davis. He was part of the first graduating class of Chopticon High School in Morganza, MD in 1966. He grew up as a farmer on his family’s farm called Luckland in Chaptico, MD, where they raised tobacco, corn, and wheat. He joined the United States Army in January 1967, where he spent most of his time served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Bernie got out of the Army in January of 1970 to return home. Once home, he worked a couple of jobs in addition to helping on the family’s farm. He started working for the Coca-Cola Company in La Plata, MD in 1970. Bernie started as a delivery route driver and moved up to a technician, and eventually became the Technician Supervisor. Bernie retired from Coca-Cola in December 2003 after 33 years of service.

On June 20, 1970 he married the love of his life Linda Ann (Bailey) of Loveville, MD at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Morganza, MD. Bernie and Linda spent 54 years of marriage together before his passing. They had a son, Brian Davis (Jessie), of Chaptico, MD on December 29, 1971. Additionally, they have four grandchildren, Chris (Vi), Natalie, Jimmy, and Bree. Bernie is survived by his brother, Tommy Davis (Beth) of Chaptico, MD, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernie cherished time with family and friends. He had many hobbies over the years, but especially loved golf, hunting, fishing, and crabbing. Bernie and Linda could often be found on a dance floor throughout their marriage, playing cards at one of their many friends’ houses or riding around Luckland Farm on their mule to see what was happening.
