SALUDA – Mark Alan Byrd, 64, of Saluda, passed away, Sunday evening, June 30, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born in Hendersonville, he was the son of Delia Ann Gravely Byrd of Saluda and the late Donald Eugene Byrd. Mark was a 1977 graduate of East Henderson High School. After graduating, Mark became a truck driver, owning his own truck, logging, carpenter, helped his Dad build his parents home and built his own home. He was a jack of all trades and people trusted his opinion when needed. Mark enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching drag racing.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Byrd who passed away in 1984.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife of 3 years, Barbara Kelly; one daughter, Holly Makayla Bennett (Daniel) of Folkston, Georgia; one granddaughter that referred to Mark as “Big Man”, Elizabeth Claire Bennett. Also surviving are his family of friends.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 5, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon.

A private graveside will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
