SALUDA – Rodney Merle Thompson, 52, of Saluda, passed away, Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Born in Henderson County, he was the son of R. Wayne Thompson and Harriet “Cissy” Corn Thompson of Saluda. Rodney was a 1989 graduate of Edneyville High School. He began laying brick when he was 16 years old and worked at Rose’s also. After high school, he went on to become a mason and ultimately started his own business. He was known for his outstanding quality of work. Rodney loved music, shooting guns, growing a garden and fishing. But most of all, his daughter, son and grandsons were his life.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Riley Thompson (Brooke) of Saluda; one daughter, Taylor Thompson (Heath Potter) of Mill Spring; three grandsons, Rexton, Colten and Rhett.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with Mr. Danny Siegfred officiating.
