The life of Marion Bolden began on July 15, 1929, in Hampton County, South Carolina to the late Pauline Mungin Bolden and Stephen Bolden. On June 26, 2024, he fell asleep after a brief illness.
Marion received his early education in the Hampton County School System, later he attended and graduated from the prestigious Mather Academy, Beaufort, South Carolina. After graduation, he attended Allen University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry with aspirations of becoming a doctor. In the mid 1950’s, he moved to New York. He was baptized on December 31, 1960, soon after being witnessed to in door-to-door work and served Jehovah as a Witness for 63 years. He owned an appliance store in New York City for 15 years. After living in New York for 40 years he migrated back South in the 1990’s and moved to Furman, South Carolina where he resided until his transitioning. He owned an appliance repair company, “Kwik Appliance” for 25 years. He was very soft spoken, intelligent, and loving individual. Additionally, he was a very sweet, loyal, helpful, caring, and hardworking person that loved all as family.
In 1964, Marion met the love of his life Lelia Virginia Lee at the Kingdom Hall. They were united in holy matrimony in September of 1965. Through this union, they raised, Vernell Cherry as a son.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and both sisters, Iona Bolden Ladson and Mary E. Bolden.
Marion was a devoted son, father, husband, uncle, brother, and friend to others. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: a son raised as their own, Vernell (Mia) Cherry; grandchildren, Devan Cherry and Nicholas Cherry; caregivers and cousin, Wyman (Dwanda) Bolden; special cousin, Charlie Cherry; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, many loving friends, and the worldwide Jehovah Witnesses.
