Elaine Stewart Kimery
July 13, 1955 – June 25, 2024
Beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at Lexington Community Hospice House - Agape Care
where she was wonderfully cared for with kindness & respect. She lost her life to cancer at 68 years old.
Elaine was born in Kingstree, SC and graduated from Williamsburg Academy in Kingstree, SC. She worked in
Customer Service with long stretches at SCE&G in Columbia, SC, Medical Services of America in Lexington,
SC and finally retired from General Information Services in Chapin, SC. Her career allowed her to do what she
loved most, talk to people, help people, and positively touch the lives of those she encountered. This also
gave her the opportunity to witness to many people and share the love of God.
Prior to transitioning into hospice, she was living at home with her cat, Colby. She enjoyed watching television,
studying the word of God and journaling. Although she cherished her time at home, she also loved being with
her family and friends. She always looked forward to getting together for a good game night, great food, good
music and fellowship with those she loved. She always wanted to laugh and being in the presence of those
she cared about brought her so much joy.
As long as we can remember, Mom loved to dance and enjoy music. We’ve heard so any stories of her
performing in her younger years, whether on stage or just in a casual setting. Entertaining was a passion Mom
had which she shared with us and encouraged as kids and into adulthood. As her children, we owe a great
deal of who we have become to the Biblical foundation she laid, the prayers she prayed and the lessons she
taught us. We will truly miss the joyful times we’ve had with our mother, but we find solace in knowing she is at
peace. In recent weeks Mom spoke about her excitement to be reunited with her mother, her sister and her
brother-in-law in Heaven worshiping the Holy Trinity with all the others who have joined the celebration in the
sky before her.
She is survived by daughters Kristin Buchanan in Lexington, SC and April Walker in Apollo Beach, FL,
grandchildren Liam Walker, Jaxon Buchanan, Mila Walker, and Clint Jensen “CJ” Buchanan, son-in-laws
Brandon Walker and Shawn Buchanan. Also survived by her brother Frontis Stewart in Kingstree, SC and
sister-in-law Bonnie Stewart in Kingstree, SC along with her nephew Kevin Stewart and niece Amy Stewart
Hydrick. Additionally survived by her nephews and nieces, Tim Jordan, Karen O’Quinn, and Barry Jordan.
Predeceased by mother Lois Stewart of Kingstree, SC, father Kelly Stewart of Kingstree, SC, sister Lorice
Jordan of Warner Robins, GA, and brother-in-law Hart Jordan of Warner Robins, GA.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held on what would have been her next birthday, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at
Lake Murray Baptist Church, 1001 US-378, Lexington, SC 29072 from 11:00AM - 2:00PM. We welcome all to
come by and share fond memories or stories of our mother. We are grateful to Midlands Cremations for
handling Mom’s final arrangements.

and by eliminating duplication of services we can do more for more families in need of food, clothing, and
Christmas gifts. The estimated value of this assistance is nearly $1.7 million.
