Martha J. Myers Obituary

Martha Jane Myers, 90, of Oil City, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Born April 5, 1934, in Titusville, she was a daughter of the late William J. Daly and Pauline Voisen Vincent.

Jane was committed to all that she was involved with. She felt the need to be her best every day. She led a very simple life with her companion of 45 years, Raymond “Sam” Lauer, who preceded her in death. They enjoyed winter trips to Florida and camping during the summer at Tionesta where many of the grandchildren spent their time and have very fond memories of those trips where they also learned to play bingo and cards.

She joined the Oil City Senior Center and later, Cranberry Place where she became a dependable member for the past 30 years. She did not consider herself a volunteer, although she was, she assumed the role of the person you could count on who wanted to help and serve others. She developed many caring friendships with so many of the members and staff. She was determined to attend every day (she did not want to “call off”) and did so until the week prior to her death.

Throughout the years, she loved and looked forward to attending many sporting functions for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Oil City Moose Club where she served as a Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose.

She spent her last two and a half years living with her daughter enjoying river life and watching the wildlife while enduring the challenges of dementia. She loved spending time outdoors, caring for the flowers or cutting the grass with scissors because, “doesn’t that look nice” when it was done. She continued to be a very happy, appreciative, and kind soul who did not succumb to the disease. She thanked everyone for anything that was done for her.

Mom, you leave behind a most grateful family for all of your support, kindness, and love. We thank you!

Serafin and her significant other, Tim Dale of Ahrensville, Robin Slater and her husband Terry of Venus, and Harold A. “Ham” Myers of Seneca; a daughter-in-law, Becky Myers of Plumer; 12 grandchildren, Sherri Wilson and her husband Mike, Ryan Flickner and his wife Elizabeth, Gary Myers, Emily Lockhart and her husband Chad, Patrick Myers and his wife Allison, Missy Riley and her husband Tommy, Sean Slater and his wife Callie, Billy Myers and his wife Brandy, Greg Myers, Charlie Marsh and his wife Amanda, Cassandra “CJ” Myers, and Jennifer Myers and her significant other, Forest; 20 great grandchildren, Talon Wilson, Tanner Wilson, Marina Wilson, Andrew Flickner, Leah Flickner, Sydney Lee, Gabby Lockhart, Hank Lockhart, Brenna Myers, Gwen Myers, Mason Myers, Madeline Myers, Katelin Riley, Kortnee Myers, Blaze Myers, Axel Myers, Zackary Marsh, Carson Marsh, Raven Myers, and Harper Harvey; six great-great grandchildren, Elliott, Ellie, Rhett, Jaxon, Rylen, and Ryder; and many nieces and nephews.
