Jerald (Jay) K. Waller II, resident of Irvington, Alabama, exchanged this life for eternity on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Jay was born on May 22, 1966, in Selma, AL.
He grew up on Dauphin Island in Alabama and graduated from Alba High School in 1984. He met his wife, Melissa, in 1981 and they got married in 1986. They had three children who he loved very much. During the years of becoming a husband and father, he also started his career on the water in 1984. He quickly found a love for working offshore and he wanted to be the captain of the ship, so that's exactly what he did! He was captain on offshore vessels for over 30 years. While on the water, he was a leader, a teacher, and a friend. He set a great example for all of his shipmates and always did the job with care and excellence. He took very much pride in what he did! While he wasn't on the water, he spent his time with his family and friends. He always had a project going! Whether it was fixing up an old car or boat or just tinkering around the garage with his grandsons. He always had a plan to take something apart or put something back together. He also loved to travel, whether it was a new place or somewhere he had already been, he was always ready for an adventure! He also never met a stranger, and he always had a story to tell. He would sit for hours with whoever wanted to listen and just reminisce on the good ole days and just talk about his beliefs and the things he loved the most.
He is survived by his mother and father, Anne and Jerald Waller; his sister, Kathrine Fain; his brother, Blair (Susan) Waller; his wife of 37 years, Melissa Waller; his 3 children, Miranda (Jared) Knowles, Amanda (Austin) Ferrell, Trevor Waller; and his grandchildren, who where the light of his life, Connor and Everly, Landon and Nova. He also had aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly.
The Lord is my Pilot, I shall not drift. He guides me across the dark waters. He steers me in deep channels. He keeps my log. He pilots me by the star of holiness for His name's sake. Yea, though I sail 'mid the fenders and tempests of life I shall dread no danger for He is near me. His love and care shelter me. He prepares a harbor before me in the homeland of eternity. He anoints the waves with oil, my ship rides calmly. Surely sunlight and starlight shall favor me on my voyages and I will rest in the Port of our Lord forever.
