NORFOLK- Margie Davenport Sawyer, 88, died Aug. 7, 2018. A native of Hertford, NC, she was a dedicated Coast Guard Captain’s wife. Margie was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, an avid golfer, and bridge player. Survivors include her husband, Russell E. “Buzz” Sawyer; two sons, Russell E. Sawyer, Jr. and wife Annetta, and Robert M. Sawyer; and two grandchildren, Aidan Sawyer and Holden Sawyer. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 in Freemason Street Baptist Church, 400 E. Freemason St, Norfolk, VA 23510. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 5-6 PM. Burial will be at 11 AM on Saturday, Aug. 11, in Powells Point Christian Church Cemetery in North Carolina. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel is handling arrangements.
