John B. “Moto” Windham, age 82, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from the times of 2:00pm until 3:00pm Monday in Christian Pathway Church. A funeral service will be held in the church at 3:00pm, with interment immediately following in Lamar Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Shot and Linda Windham at 1040 East Lynches River Road.
Moto was born in Darlington County on September 1, 1941, he is the son of the late Clarence Windham and Mattie Marie Watford Windham. Moto was a farmer and hunter all his life, he was a true outdoorsman. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially spending time with his grandchildren teaching them how to hunt and fish. Moto was well known in the Lamar area for the quality of hunting dogs that he had. He attended Christian Pathway until his health declined.
Surviving Moto are his two sons, Mark (Dena) Windham and John (Toni Brantley) Windham, grandchildren, Cassidy Windham, Patrick (Ashley) Windham, Justin Windham, Jason Windham, Aaron (Stacy) Brantley, Dana Brantley, great-grandchildren, Payton, Ashton, Paxton, Trent, Payton, Addison, Brayton, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by his step-son, William Layton, and siblings, Ruby (Ray) Bailey, Willie James Windham, Clarice Cliffton, Mary Alice Shoemake, Mattie Ann Poston, Robert “Shot” (Linda) Windham, and Carl “Dagger” (Cindy) Windham.
In addition to his parents, Moto his preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Windham, and his siblings, Clarence “Candy Ball” Windham, Virginia Atkinson, Edie Atkinson, Harold Windham, Ted “Peter” Windham, and Ned Windham.
