Claude Alton “Buddy” Thomas, Jr. age 75, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 . A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 22nd at Lamar Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Paula Stover and directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born in Lake City, SC on January 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Claude Alton Thomas  and Dorothy Elizabeth McClam Thomas. Mr. Thomas graduated from Lake City High School, then served in the United States Army. After his military service, he earned an associate degree in business administration. Buddy retired after 27 years from the Darlington Post Office. Mr. Thomas will be remembered as a “quiet man”  and a “family man” that loved his girls and his family.  He loved the Clemson Tigers and being on his John Deere tractor. Mr. Thomas was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Scarlett Woods Thomas, a daughter,  Kim (Ben) Porter, step-daughters; Sarah Hannah (Franklin) Williams and Ellie Gee, step-grandchildren: Lillian Williams, Julie Williams, Danielle (Dale) Keen and Jordanna Porter, siblings, Mary Beth (Larry) Brunson of Sumter, Alice Jayne(Rick) Barry of Arabi, GA, Dottie (Francois) Pin of Knoxville, TN, his faithful canine companion “Sophie” and his grand-dog “Laken”
