Harold Foster, born March 12, 1939.  Passed away May 15, 2024.  He was raised on his family farm northwest of Arborg, son of Bud and Addie.  Harold married Alda Sigvaldason on May 2nd, 1964.  Their son Roger was born in 1971, their daughter Erin was born in 1978.   Roger  and his wife Angela have four daughters, Laura (Brett Lindberg), Ivy, Julia, and Kate.  Erin and her husband Rick Heise have two daughters, Shelby and Sara.  His family was the most important thing to him, and loved to spend time with them.  He was predeceased by his brother Richard, and survived by his brothers Ken (Linda) and Albert, his nieces and nephews: Keith (Annya), Shawna (Jeff), Kyle (Vanessa), Trent (Shawnee), and Curtis (Sandra).  Of Alda's family, he was predeceased by Alda's brother Marvin, and survived by Don (Juliana), and niece Alexandra and nephew Ryan. Also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.

After school, he worked in Red Lake building houses a couple of years, then started farming with his Dad in 1961.His brother Ken joined the farm in 1968.  Harold and Alda always had a very strong relationship, right to the very end, shortly after celebrating their 60th anniversary.  He had a great sense of humour.  He enjoyed golf, bocce ball, curling, cribbage.

Harold was a very hard worker. He always believed in giving a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors.

Harold was heavily involved in the community on many boards and committees, including being president of the Arborg Credit Union and director for Credit Union Central (29 years total),  chairman of the assisted living committee,  and the Reeve of the Municipality of Bifrost for 22 years.  Harold & Alda retired from the farm in 1997, and moved to their home on Lake Winnipeg in 2000.

Harold & Alda moved to Esterhazy SK in 2020 to be closer to Erin and her family.

Harold came to know Jesus in the end, and we are thankful for all prayers that helped him get to that place.

The family is extremely thankful for the extraordinary effort of the kind and caring staff at St. Anthony's Hospital in Esterhazy.
