Minnie Catherine Meyers Prascik, born April 25, 1937, to Charles and Anna Mucheck Meyers, in Wheeling, WV, passed away on June 18, 2024, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, at the age of 87.
Minnie grew up on Boggs Run in Benwood and graduated from Union High School in 1955. She fondly referred to Union as “where it all began” as that is where she met her future husband, Joe, at the water fountain every afternoon. After high school, Minnie worked as a bookkeeper for Sherwin Williams and others.
She married Joseph Prascik on November 30, 1957, and began her greatest endeavor in life as a homemaker and stay at home mom. Minnie enjoyed taking care of others, especially her children and their friends, many of whom thought of her as their “other mother.” Her door and heart were always open, and she was always ready with words of wisdom and comfort food. Her specialties included doughnuts, pepperoni rolls, spaghetti, pierogi and lokshe. Minnie enjoyed listening to country music, playing Canasta, Yahtzee, Bunco and Uno, doing word puzzles, baking and spending time with her family, including her grand fur babies.
In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Prascik, a son, Charles Prascik, a grandson, Dustin Burdoff, her siblings, Carl Meyers and Joe Meyers, and multiple sisters and brothers in law. She is survived by her children William Prascik, Catherine Prascik, Francis (Cheryl) Prascik and Lori (Rick) Caldwell, her grandchildren Jeffrey Donda and Bethanny Prascik, her sister Ruth Cales, a sister in law, Helen Prascik, numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special caregiver, friend and adopted “niece’, Debi Showalter.
