Jewell A. Clarke

Jewell A. (Murch) Clarke,79, of Mendon passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford. She was the wife of the late John H. Atkinson who died in 2009 and Murray T. Clarke of Mendon. Mrs. Clarke worked for Data General in Westborough and retired in 1991. She was born August 25, 1938 in Worcester the daughter of the late L. Everett and F. Charlene (Taylor) Murch and graduated from the former Mendon High School in Mendon. She enjoyed sewing and painting and took a special interest in portrait painting. She volunteered at the Country Bear Family Child Care Center for her daughter and was affectionately known as “Grammy Jewell”. In addition to her husband Murray of 40 years, she is survived by her daughter, Robin (Atkinson) Phipps-Smith and her husband Peter Smith of Mendon; a brother, Loren E. “Butch” Murch of Hopedale; two sisters, Joy L. Gaskill and Lorena M. Baldiga both of Mendon; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation, 14 Prospect Street, Milford, MA 01757. www.bumafuneralhome.com
