Karl A. Gaus, 69, of New Castle passed away the morning of June 19, 2024 at UPMC Jameson Hospital


Born in Sharon, PA on March 5, 1955 Karl was the son of the late William and Marge Alford Gaus


Karl is survived by his beloved wife, the former Judy Staransky who he married on October 13, 1979.


Karl was retired from Superior Forge & Steel.


He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Karl had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.


Karl was an avid bowler and golfer. He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers. Karl was known for his delicious kielbasa that he would make for family and friends. He enjoyed visiting casinos, going to Bingo and especially vacationing with his family.


In addition to his wife, Karl is survived by his three children, Joe Gaus (Sara), Paula Szklinski (Greg) and Ryan Gaus, his sister-in-law, Terri Gause, his sister, Linda Brady (Jim) and his eight grandchildren, Jackson, Caden, Charlotte, Maya, Tristian, McKayla, Jasmine and Paulina.


In addition to his parents, Karl was preceded in death by his brother, William Gaus.


Visitation will be on Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Rites at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.


Family and Friends will meet at St. Vitus Church on Monday for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Father Benedetto Vaghetto will officiate.


Burial will be in the Veterans Section of Parkside Cemetery.
