It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark A. Courts, age 60, who passed away on May 31, 2024, in Denton, Texas. Born on May 7, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, Mark lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends.

Mark was the beloved son of the late Fannie B. Courts, who passed in 2002. He is survived by his father, Clarence J. Courts Sr., and stepmother, Betty, who reside in San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his siblings: Clarence J. Courts and his wife Rochelle, Sandra M. Carr and her husband Wilfred, both of Flint, Michigan, and Cindy L. Courts and her partner Lenix Johnson of Denton, Texas. Mark leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his warmth and kindness.

Mark graduated from Beecher High School and enlisted in the Army immediately after graduation. Following his service, he attended Michigan State University, where he earned his Master’s in Art. He dedicated many years of his career to working at North Central Texas College (NCTC), where he made a significant impact on both his colleagues and the students he served. Mark was also a proud member of the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce, contributing to the community he cherished.

In his free time, Mark loved spending time with his family, solving puzzles, and visiting the Dominican Republic, a place he held dear to his heart.

A special thanks goes to Mark's best friend, Eric Beasley, whose unwavering support and friendship meant the world to Mark and his family.

Throughout his life, Mark was known for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering support for his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service to honor Mark's memory will be held on Saturday, June 15, at 11 AM, at 921 Morse Street, Denton, Texas 76205.
