Lavenia Sue Brooks Obituary

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Lavenia Sue Brooks of Nixon, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 85. Sue was born January 13, 1939, to the late Milton and Myrtle Gordon McKinney.


Sue worked at Nixon ISD for many years. She is survived by her children, Robert Lynn Brooks and Nelda Hurley; grandchildren, J.J. Pomrenke (James), and Amanda Hurley; great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Jasper Pomrenke; sister, Jimmie Gordon (Bert); brothers, Freddie McKinney (Faye), and William McKinney (Joyce); numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Brooks; parents; son, Bobby Dwayne Brooks; brothers, James McKinney, Curtis McKinney, John McKinney, and Marlin McKinney; sisters, Edna Shipman, and Mattie Croft.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 9:30am-10:30am at Faith Temple Church in Nixon.


FUNERAL SERVICE

Faith Temple Church, Nixon


Burial will follow at Leesville Cemetery. Rev. Michael Cowey will be officiant of the service.
