Lily (Lil) Irene Manzer Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lily (Lil) Irene Manzer on April 19, 2024.

She is survived by her loving children – Sheila (Dave) Anderson and Daniel (Rae) Manzer; three grandsons Shawn (Shawna) Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Michael Anderson and her two great grandchildren Brooklynn Anderson and Jase Anderson. Also survived by her sister Pearl Worthing, sister in-law Patricia (Merv) Thorne and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lil was born on April 3, 1923 in Wainwright, AB to Harry and Violet Walker. She grew up on a farm outside of Wainwright. After completing school she worked at the Wainwright Hospital until her and her sister, Nancy, moved to the coast where they worked at the Royal Columbian Hospital. It was in New Westminster, BC that she met Bill Manzer and they were married in 1951. Together, they moved to Prince Rupert, BC in 1957 and then settled in Kamloops in 1960. She was mostly a stay-at-home Mom, always involving herself in our school activities. She worked a bit in the hospitality and retail industry. She enjoyed bowling and curling and could always find her ready to play cards – especially canasta. Camping was always a big part of the summers, which was often enjoyed with her siblings and their families.

Her family meant everything to her. Her quiet strength and support was always there for us. She was a loyal friend to many. As a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother (GG) she was loved very much.

After nearly 60 years of marriage, she was predeceased by her husband in 2010. Also predeceased by her sisters Violet, Nancy and Ruby, brother Art and twin brother Bill.

Special thanks to the staff at The Hamlets at Westsyde where Mom lived for 11 years in assisted living. Also, thanks to Dr. Howie and the staff at Pine Grove Care Centre where she spent the last year and a half.

An intimate family graveside service was held as requested by Lil.

You will live on in our hearts forever.
