Tammy O'Brien Obituary

She began life as Tammy Jean Baughman on April 27, 1962. Born to Charles and Barbara Baughman in Houston, Texas, she was their only daughter. Raised with her three brothers, Chucky, Kenny, and Darrell, Tammy wanted nothing more than to have a sister.

Tammy graduated from Conroe High School in 1980 with her first baby, Jason, attending the ceremony. She was again blessed shortly after with her second child, Jamie. She may never have gotten the sister she wanted, but she got her own little girl with beautiful blonde hair to put bows in. Her last and greatest child, Misty, rounded out the family just a couple years later, only to be outshined by the greatest joys of her life; those who called her "Grandma".

Tammy had many passions in her short life. She was gifted with hands that could create without bounds. From cross stitch to crochet, sewing to folding beautiful bows, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t make. With the support of her loving husband, John, she even created her own business. It brought her such joy and purpose to make things for others to enjoy.

Tammy loved the adventure that came with traveling. She took great pleasure in visiting historical sites and tropical climates, by boat or plane, but never alone. She enjoyed trips with her husband or with friends and family. Jim and Sharon DeLoss were regular travel companions to her and John. They enjoyed cruises and loved the clear waters of the Caribbean. Growing up in the Gulf South, being able to see her toes in the water was magical to her. Her heart belonged in Maine, though. Tammy said she found her happy place while visiting the Portland Head Light in Maine (that's a lighthouse to us Texas folk). She would say she could sit for hours just watching the waves crash against the rocks.

Tammy left us on June 8, 2024 to join her son, Jason Williams; granddaughter, Destiny; father, Charles Baughman; and brothers: Curt and Johnny Baughman.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, John O’Brien; daughters: Jamie Wilder and her husband Jason and Misty Calhoun and her husband Adam; grandchildren: Skylla, Hunter, and Emma Jane; mother, Barbara Baughman; brothers: Kenny Baughman and his wife Melissa, Chucky Baughman, Darrell Baughman and his wife Bernadette. Tammy is also loved and missed by her extended family and friends.

She lived a full life but one that was too short. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s. But, especially for her and in her memory, love one another and be nice to each other.

Don’t forget, if you feel heavy, have a baked potato.
