William "Bill" Ellis, Jr. Obituary

William Clifton Ellis Jr. “Bill”, of Douglas passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June,13 2024 at Carver Baptist Church with Rev. Philip Corbean and Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating. He will be laid to rest at Hazlehurst City Cemetery at a later date. Chet Ellis, Clif Ellis, Mark Olsen, Tye Courson, Danny Spires, and Luis Salas will all serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Paulk, Mallory Smith, Phil Tanner, Sammy Lastinger, Harry Smith, Donald Batten, John Andrew Tanner, Sam Ray, George Sapp, Wade Tanner, Charley Lott, Curtis Farrar, Norman Fletcher, Chipper Hall, Brent Paugh, Employees of Esco Industries and Board of Directors at FNBCC.
 

Born on November 28, 1944, in Hazlehurst, Georgia, he was preceded in death by his parents Billy and Laura Nell, and by his sister, Linda. Bill is survived by Mary Ovida Vickers of Douglas; children, Will Ellis (Micci) of Douglas; Haley Ellis of Hazlehurst; Sally Ellis of Douglas; Kate Vickers Olsen (Mark) of Atlanta; Emily Vickers Courson (Tye) of Douglas. Grandchildren, Chet Ellis (Hailey) and Clif Ellis of Douglas; Ansley Ellis of Douglas; Bo Ellis, Buck Ellis, Hampton Olsen, Elliot Olsen and Davis Courson; brother, Johnny Ellis and wife Patty of Hazlehurst; and a niece and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Carver Baptist Church, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Good Deeds Club of Coffee County, 710 N Madison Ave Douglas, GA 31533 or the Childhood Cancer Awareness Group of Coffee County, PO Box 1203 Douglas, Ga 31534, and Carver Baptist Church 1080 Kamara Rd, Douglas, GA 31535.
