LeRoy Dean Fulton Obituary

LeRoy Dean Fulton, age 88, the son of Leslie Austin and Beatrice Mae (Davis) Fulton, was born November 17, 1935, in Leon, Iowa. He passed away on June 10, 2024, at his home in Humble, Texas.


LeRoy grew up in Leon, Iowa except for a short time in Oregon. Upon his family’s return to Leon, LeRoy asked Diane Maureen Juergens to the Junior-Senior Prom. That was the start of a very long relationship. Following his graduation from Leon High School in 1954, he joined the United States Air Force. LeRoy and Diane were married on August 20, 1955, at the Whiteman Air Force Base in Sedalia, Missouri. After 21 years of active service, LeRoy worked Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base for another 21 years. The couple and their three children, Cindy, Laura, and Greg, lived on or near various Air Force bases in Missouri, Texas, and Kansas.


After LeRoy’s retirement in 1996, he had time to enjoy golfing, painting, playing cards - Pitch and Poker, and watching all kinds of sports. He especially enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys football team, the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros baseball teams, and the Dallas Mavericks basketball team.


For the past 20 plus years, the couple summered in Leon, Iowa where they enjoyed the best of the seasons, friends, and activities. They were active members of the Leon Country Club and enjoyed all it had to offer. They attended the Faith Fellowship Church in Osceola and were members of the Abundant Life Church in Burkburnett, Texas.


Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Greg Fulton; brother, Maurice Fulton; and sister-in-law, Melba Fulton. Survivors include his wife, Diane Fulton of Humble, Texas; daughters, Cindy Johnson and husband, Brett of Humble and Laura Stepp and husband, Earl of Houston, Texas; four granddaughters, Jessica Johnson, Jenna Johnson, Tiffany Stepp Crawford and husband, Todd Crawford, and Megan Stepp; siblings, Ron Fulton of Des Moines, Iowa, Joyce & Bob Ausberger of Jefferson, Iowa, Bill Fulton & Donna Fjelland of Urbandale, Iowa, Janice & Lyle Scott of Truro, Iowa, Jeff & Laura Fulton of Des Moines, and Julie & Doug McKern of Earlham, Iowa; sister-in-law, Brenda Fulton of Osceola, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.




Funeral services will be held at the Slade - O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, with Pastor Sheldon Lorenson officiating. Burial will following in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday with Family receiving friends 5 - 7 p.m.
