Jean Ruth Buck Obituary

Jean Ruth Buck, 68, of Elk Mound passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on June 8, 2024.

Jean was born in Rice Lake on September 13, 1955, to Melvin and Marcella Smith. Jeanie grew up in Shell Lake with her 10 siblings where they helped on the farm and enjoyed the outdoors. After graduating from Shell Lake High School, Jeanie attended a vocational school in Rice Lake where she studied to be a clerk typist. Jeanie then joined the workforce going from a bakery, Shopko, Hot Dogs and More, and finally, Wal-Mart where she retired from after 29 years.

In 1974, Jeanie married and though this relationship wasn't permanent they did have two children together who they adored. Jeanie then met her life partner, Lonnie Jaenke in 1986. Jeanie and Lonnie went on to add two more children to their blended family and lived happily together, making memories, ever since. Throughout her life, Jeanie loved to take a trip to the casino with friends and family, be outdoors, camp, and go on her scrapbooking retreats with her "Sister Chicks".

Jeanie is survived by, the love of her life, Lonnie Jaenke; her children, Angie Wilson (Cory), Dylan Jaenke (Amber) and Chris Jaenke (Alex); her grandchildren, Kymie (Micheal), Leah, Emma and Morgan; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marylee Tautges (Bill), Joan Mancl (Bernard), Kathee Zeien (Ron), Delores Engel, Ed Smith (Lisa), Tom Smith (Julie), John Smith (Peggy) and Jeff Smith (Becky); and many more family and friends who she loved dearly. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Marcella Smith; siblings,
Gerald Smith and Carolyn Pavlas; and her son Nick Buck.

You could always find Jeanie sitting on her deck reading a book or in her craft room snacking on her candy stash. Jeanie was such a beautiful soul, inside and out; when you were with her, she had a way of making you feel special and so loved. The world is a little dimmer without her, and she will be missed every single day. We love you.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on June 21, 2024 at 1pm at WEST CHAPEL - Lenmark - Gomsrud - Linn Funeral and Cremation Services, 1405 N. Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire.
