Sheelah Smith Bock Obituary

Sheelah Smith Bock (nee Huddleston)

Sheelah was born on October 9th, 1923, in Strome, Alberta.

It is with much sorrow that the family of Sheelah Bock announce her passing May 24th, 2024, in her 100th year. Mom was born in rural Alberta but spent the majority of her adult life in BC. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 1993, grand-daughter Katia in 2000, her twin brother Alister and two sisters Clara and Carol.

Mom is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by, her children Garry (Sue), Randy (Cathy) and Kathleen, grandchildren Tim (Christina), Trevor, Colin, Jarrod (Tina), and Joel (LeeAnn), many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, her sister Jackie, brother-in-law Bruce and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was a lifelong learner, an enthusiastic community volunteer and wonderful role model for us all with her unwavering faith, quiet strength, sense of humour and enjoyment of simple pleasures in life, including long walks each day. She will be greatly missed by her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountainside for the years of friendship and support. We would also like to acknowledge Cindy Wiley and the team from Community Home Care, as well as the caregivers from Integrity Assisted Living Solutions, formerly Serendipity Home Care Services, for all their care and personal attention. We offer a special thank you to Dr. Libby McCoid and to June Oatway who was her devoted caregiver and genuine friend.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 3:00pm at the Fruitvale Memorial Cemetery, 1720 Columbia Gardens Road, Fruitvale with Gwen Ziprick, Celebrant. Sarah Stevens of Clark’s Funeral Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.

As an expression of sympathy, donations made in Sheelah’s memory to the United Way https://uwbc.ca/ would be greatly appreciated.
