Mary Jo Howard Wilson-Cherry was born December 20, 1929 in Childress, Texas to the late Jess W. Howard and Minnie Eudie Howard. She had been a resident of Ben Wheeler for 20 years, formerly living in Arrey, New Mexico. She was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church in Canton, Red Hat Floosies, and WMU. She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for neighbors and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandma, great-great-grandma and great-great-great-grandma.


Mary passed away at the age of 94 on June 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Wilson and Raymond Cherry; son, Ron Slay; brothers, Forest & Marvin; sisters, Charlene & Bobby; and great-granddaughter, Kyla Lanae Couch.


Survivors include her children, Tona Moore, Rhonda Alexander (Jim), Robin Wilson, and Leon Wilson (Jane); nine grandchildren, Beth Ann Slay, Sandra Thiessen, Troy Alexander, Sherry Yarbrough, John Rogers, Leo Rogers, Palma Christianson, Steve Wilson, and Johnathon Wilson; six great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
