Mrs. Martha "Marty" L. Fleetwood Obituary

Martha “Marty” L. Fleetwood, affectionately known as Granny, 84, a resident of Columbus gained her angel wings on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 4:45 p.m. at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Mrs. Fleetwood was born on January 17, 1940, in Jackson County, Indiana, the daughter of Leston D. “Alec” and Irene Combs Fleetwood. On April 9, 1971, she married William “Bill” C. Fleetwood.

Mrs. Fleetwood was a beautician for 35 years and always loved spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband were involved in dirt track racing for many years. She and her husband ran the concession stands at the Brownstown and North Vernon Speedways and they were the race promoter at the Brownstown Speedway in 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Kelley (Tim) Waggoner of Columbus; step-daughters, Deborah (Jeffrey) Wilson of Phoenix, Arizonia, Cynthia Jane (Grady) Starks of Pasadena, Texas; seven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William “Bill” C. Fleetwood; a sister that was stillborn; and a step-daughter, Pamelette “Pam” Walker.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Reverend Jeff Wilson officiating.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Fleetwood requested anyone visiting please dress casually.

Mrs. Fleetwood will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
