Richard David Sattler Obituary

Richard David Sattler, 67, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Meriden on June 20, 1956, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Virginia E. (Lapuc) Sattler.

Richard was a lifelong resident of Meriden and attended Wilcox Tech, graduating with the class of 1975. He loved gardening, especially planting large gardens each year to share with others and woodworking, often crafting birdhouses for friends and family, but his true passion was riding his motorcycle.

Richard is survived by his sister Kathleen Held, his two brothers Alan Sattler and Theodore Sattler (Michele), his two nieces Stephanie Held and her husband James Dicklow and Alyssa Marlowe (Philip), and his four nephews David Sattler, Joshua Sattler, Jeremiah Sattler and his wife Kristin, and William Leader. He also leaves behind several great-nephews and great-nieces. Richard was predeceased by his brother David Sattler, brother-in-law Richard Held, and nephew Robert Held.

Richard’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the special family of friends who provided him with fellowship, care, and love, always treating him like a brother.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E Main St., Meriden, CT 06450, on Sunday, June 16th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron Street, Meriden, on Monday, June 17th, at 10:00 AM. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org or a charity of one’s choice.
