William J Cochran Obituary

William J. Cochran, Sr. “Bill” of Chincoteague, VA (formerly of Southampton, PA) passed away suddenly on Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by family. He was 84 years old. Bill was born February 2, 1940, in Philadelphia to the late John and Ethel Cochran.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carol (Jaeske) Cochran. He will be deeply missed by his children Bill & Jackie Cochran of Southampton, PA, David Cochran (Angie Harwell) of Naples, FL, and Dr. Daniel Cochran (Kevin Carr) of Chincoteague, VA. Six adoring grandchildren also survive him: Nicole Cochran of Englewood, FL; Alison Clark (Nick) of Southampton, PA; David Cochran (Chelsea Johnson) of Manayunk, PA, Dayna Cochran of Manayunk, PA, Hope Cochran and Sophia Cochran of Doylestown, PA. Bill was the proud great-grandfather of Daniel Kurtz, AvaLee Donohoe, and Cameron Clark. Additionally, Bill is survived by two brothers, John & Betty Cochran (Punta Gorda, FL) and Jim Cochran (Lorraine Stidham) of Warminster, PA.

Bill graduated from Olney High School, Class of 1958. He was active in the Army Reserves in 1961 for a number of years. He began his career at the Budd Company in 1965 and continued until his retirement. After retiring, Bill continued to work part-time for Tucker Industries in Bensalem.

A man of great faith, he participated actively in the church community, specifically the Church of Redemption in Southampton, PA, where he was not only a parishioner but an EYC leader and a member of the vestry. He was also highly engaged in the activities of the Kiwanis Club for several years.

Bill loved nothing more than being with his family. He participated in the Cub Scouts when his boys were younger. Many memories were made during yearly vacations in Ocean City, NJ. Bill loved the beach and riding on the boardwalk with Carol. Holidays and family dinners were treasured, and he especially loved it when everyone was together. The family dinners were always full of laughter, and Bill was typically the one making everyone laugh with his great sense of humor.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but the memories made with him last a lifetime.

Memorial services are scheduled to take place in Southampton, PA, and Chincoteague, VA. Further details will be announced at a later date.

Services entrusted to Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague, VA. Condolences may be made online at www.salyerfh.com.
