Nana J. Dunn Obituary

Nana J. Dunn, 83, of Magnolia, MA formerly of Andover, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William and Mary Ruth Garvin.

Nana was predeceased by her husband, Deacon Daniel A. Dunn in 2018, and her daughter, Susan (Dunn) Raymond in 2019.


She is survived by her children Catherine and her husband Michael Calisi of Methuen, MA. Richard and his wife Christine Dunn of Methuen, MA, Christopher and his wife Tiffany Dunn of Mickleton, NJ. Son-in-law, Brian Raymond of Methuen, MA. Her grandchildren Jessica and Paul Raymond, Lauren and Kristen Calder, Drew and Jack Dunn, and Lila and Felicity Dunn. Her brothers, Terry Garvin of Avinger, Texas and the late William Garvin of Costa Mesa, California. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Richard Dunn and his wife Charlene of Mill Valley, CA, and the late Michael Dunn of Evanston, IL, her sister-in-law Doris Garvin of Costa Mesa, CA as well as several nieces and nephews.


Nana received her Associates degree from Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill, MA, and a Bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College, North Andover, MA. Her work as a yoga teacher and interest in spiritual well-being precipitated her to pursue her Masters in Divinity degree from the Seminary of Spiritual Peacemaking, Ashland, OR. As a spiritual peacemaker and ordained minister, her work was a great part of her life. In her last chapter, she became an advocate for end-of-life choices, living out her beliefs. She gained much support from Compassion and Choices, an organization empowering individuals to chart their end of life journey.


Nana’s family is deeply thankful and appreciative for all those who have cared for and supported her over the past year.
