Bobbie Gail McGee Obituary

Bobbie Gail McGee, 88, beloved wife of the late Merle Allen McGee, entered into eternal life in our Lord's Heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

Born in Piedmont, SC, on December 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late J. B. and Mary Nolia Green Leslie.

Gail was a graduate of Piedmont High School where she played varsity basketball. After graduation, she met and married her sweetheart, Mac McGee (Maggie, as she lovingly called him) with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Gail worked as a hairstylist in Greenville for 36 years. However, she felt her primary life calling was to be a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved to sing in her beautiful alto voice, not only as a member of the church choir, but at any given opportunity, which was a blessing.

After the passing of her husband, she moved to Estill, SC, where she joined Nixville Baptist Church, and lived with her eldest daughter, Joy, and family for 16 years until she was called home to glory. Her ever present gentle, caring spirit and loving heart will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by sons, Allen McGee (Teresa), and David Jay McGee; daughters, Joy Kircher (Dr. Allan Kircher), and Chrissy Leschak-Epstein (Dr. Franklin Epstein); grandchildren, Lindsay Mason (Jonathan), Michael Tyler McGee (Deanna), Megan Bates (Christopher), Zachary Long (Terri Lightner), Jeffrey Kircher (Kirsten), Brandon Kircher (Candace), Tylor Kircher (Marcy), Morgan Bracco (Jeremy), Malone Fanning (Corey), Marlowe Newman (Cory), Austen Epstein (Zak Frentz), Nathanael Epstein, Dryden Epstein, and Larkin Epstein; 30 cherished great-grandchildren; nieces, Joni Embrey (Jodie) and Lisa Garber (John); and nephew, Kenny Leslie.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth B. and Mildred Leslie.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Agape Hospice of Walterboro, SC, and a faithful caregiver, Mrs. Terry Jarrell.

Death does not diminish precious memories, and she shall live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Piedmont, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Center School, 2 Betty Spencer Drive, Greenville, SC 29607 (864.355.0250)
