Barbara Ann Lair Obituary

Barbara “Barb” Ann (Dolan) Lair, 74 years of age, passed away on June 7th, 2024 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Barb was born on January 13th, 1950 in Swea City, Iowa to James Dolan, Sr. and May Ella Hohn. In her younger years she was quite athletic. She had a passion for swimming and playing ball. She attended Fort Dodge High School and graduated the “Class of 1968.” She went on to raise her three daughters, DeAnn, Debra and Dawn. She worked 33 years with the Iowa Workforce Development before retiring.

Barb spent her free time completing puzzles and watching old Western shows. She especially enjoyed reading and one of her favorite authors was James Patterson. If you knew Barb, you knew that she would give the shirt off of her back to know you were doing okay.

Barb is survived by children, Debra, DeAnn, and Dawn Ibrahim; her grandchildren, Cristian and Catalina Ramos, Lydia Mena-Lair, Alazaya Martinez, and Ethan Burgett; great-grandchildren, DaMarion and DaVari Ramos; her siblings, Mary Kay (Tom) Roberts, Steve (Patty) Dolan, Dave (Deb) Dolan, and Michael (Sharon) Dolan; along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lair; parents, James Dolan, Sr. and May Ella Hohn; siblings, Dennis, Diane, John, and James Dolan, Jr. and Patricia Daughenbaugh.

There will not be a funeral for Barb but rather a Celebration of Life to be held on August 24th, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 P.M. at the Fraternal Order of Eagle's Lodge, 6567 Bloomfield Rd., Des Moines, IA 50320.
