Susan E. Schilling Obituary

LODI-It is with great sadness that the family of Susan E. (Skarda) Schilling announces her passing at age 77 on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Beaver Dam “Bay Harbor Assisted Senior Living”.

After graduating from Lodi High School in 1964, Sue married William “Bill” Schilling in 1970 and moved to the Waunakee area. Sue worked at several State of Wisconsin agencies, starting at Central Colony and moving up to a position as a Research Analyst before retiring very early.  She then returned to school at UW and earned a BA in Sociology in 1992. She focused on healthy habits as well as attending local softball games that Bill played in. She volunteered frequently, including at the American Legion Post in Dane Wisconsin where she was previously the President of the Auxiliary.

Travel was important to her. Sue and Bill journeyed within the U.S., Canada, and overseas often, visiting places such as Australia, Costa Rica, Austria, Spain, France, Cancun, Mexico City, Yucatan Peninsula, Panama Canal, and the Great Pyramids.

Sue will be lovingly remembered by her five surviving siblings, Bonnie (Bob) Browne, Donald (Annie Miles) Skarda, Randy (Kathy) Skarda, Gini (Leon Moore) Skarda and Marcia (Greg) Miller. She will remain in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews, Monica, Doug, Julie, Dean, Alicia, Jodi, Steve, Lisa, Carrie, Brooke, Shawn, Mike, Jon, Brianna, Brandon and Jacob, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bill Schilling, the love of her life. She was also predeceased by her parents, Donald and Virginia Skarda; her sister, Nancy Haag; a great niece, Sierra Skarda.

Committal service will be at Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Sauk Street, Lodi WI, at 11:30 am, on Monday, June 24, 2024.  A Celebration of Sue’s life will follow, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the DANE AMERICAN LEGION POST #503, 124 N.
