Walter E. Ballinger age 83, passed away on Friday April 28, 2023. Walter was born in Rockcastle County to the late Elmer and Dovie VanZant Ballinger. Walter was called to ministry in 1963, he was ordained as minister by the Christian Church in 1966, he was minister for several churches in central and eastern Kentucky, and he was a licensed Commercial Electrician. Walter was also preceded in death by his siblings: Harold Ballinger, Geneva Hedgepeth, and Myrel Ballinger.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Deloris VanWinkle Ballinger, his children: Dale (Brenda) Ballinger, Hank (Nancy) Ballinger, Pat (Charlie) Dean, and Tonya (Stacy) Edwards, his 8 grandchildren: Jessica Willis, Rachel Day, Sarah Anglin, Melinda Harris, Leah Lowe, Jared Blair, Paige Edwards, and Kenton Edwards, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday May 5, 2023 at 11 am at Lakes Funeral Home, with Pastor Dale Ballinger, Hank Ballinger, Charlie Dean, and Stacy Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Madison County Memorial Gardens, pallbearers will be grandsons Kyle Willis, Johnathan Day, Brad Anglin, Stewart Harris, Seth Lowe, Jared Blair, and Kenton Edwards. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at Lakes Funeral Home. www.lakesfuneralhome.com.
