Robert 'Bob' B. Hesselman Obituary

Robert B. ‘Bob’ Hesselman, Jr, 82, died at his home with family by his side on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was born June 8, 1942, in Milton Junction to the late Robert B. and Genevieve L. (Gray) Hesselman, Sr. He would serve his country as an MP in the U.S. Army at West Point; a proud moment for Bob was being the one to lower the flag at West Point the day John F. Kennedy died. On September 8, 1961, Bob would marry Barbara Van Alstine, his grade school sweetheart, at the Milton Junction United Methodist Church. Bob spent his career working at GM retiring in 1994.

Bob loved to golf, even having three hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, traveling and going on cruises. Bob just loved life and was a very caring person.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barb Hesselman; children: Mark (Shelli) Hesselman of Slinger, WI, Karen (Matt) Miller of Lake Mills, Kelly (Randy) Soergel of Milton and Linda (Jeff) Updike of Evansville; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Neil (Nancy) Hesselman of Edgerton; brother-in-law, Dick Van Alstine of Edgerton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Brian Hesselman; grandsons: Jon Miller and Jacob Soergel; and brother, David Hesselman.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 p.m. at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME, 315 Lord St. (Hwy 51) Edgerton. A brief prayer will conclude at 12:00 p.m. Friends and family will then be invited to continue to celebrate Bob’s life at Towne Country Club following the service.
