John Douglas Whittingham Obituary

John Douglas Whittingham passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024


John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years; Joan, his sons; Shon (Melissa), Jonathan (Rhonda), grandchildren; Alyssa, Samantha, Makayla, Caelan, Braedan, and his siblings; Judy, Terry Sr. (Tracy), and Susan (Lindsay); sisters-in-law, Shelly (Mike), and Marie; brother-in-law, Gary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.


John is predeceased by his parents; Douglas and Anne, in-laws, George and Mary; as well as his nephew; Terry Jr.; brothers-in-law, Barry and Lloyd.


John dedicated nearly 50 years of service working for Stelco/Alta Steel and as a member of the U.S.W. Local 5220.


John’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Grey Nuns Hospital and Leduc Community Hospital staff for their compassionate care.


A private family service will be held with cremation to follow.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.
