Funeral services for Renee Griffin, 67, of Chandler, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Bristow officiating. Interment will follow at Chandler Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.


Mrs. Griffin passed away on June 9, 2024, in Chandler.


Renee Annette (Hodnett) Griffin was born on July 21, 1956, in Bastrop, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Robert Ray Hodnett and Mary Elisabeth (Dean) Hodnett. Renee graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, Louisiana, in 1974. She earned her bachelor’s degree in art education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana. Renee dedicated 27 years of her life to teaching, three of those years at Leesville Elementary School in Louisiana and 24 of those years spent teaching art at Brownsboro High School. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and spending time with her family, and she cherished being a Maw Maw to her grandchildren. Renee was also passionate about shopping and owned and operated a boutique in Chandler and at First Monday called Southern Charm. She will be remembered as caring, creative, generous, and a fighter until the end. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Bro. Bobby and Mary Hodnett.


Survivors include her husband, Fred Griffin of Chandler; her children, Katie Smith and husband Jason of Dallas, Allie Bierig and husband Micah of Brownsboro, and Caroline Jordan and husband Rhion of Chandler; her siblings, Yvonne Welch of Pineville, Louisiana, Angie Bailey and husband Kent of Baldwin, Louisiana, Elisabeth Chambers of Tyler, and Ruth Hodnett of Baldwin; her grandchildren, Zeb Smith, Edie Smith, Griffin Bierig, Carter Bierig, Everett Jordan, and Ellanor Jordan; and bonus family member, Damian Hendricks of Tyler.


Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Epperson, Toby Mitchell, Brad Robertson, Josh Cade, Earl Wilmeth, Ricky Wyatt, and Greg Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Micah Bierig, Rhion Jordan, Jason Smith, Damian Hendricks, Dennis Loosier, Scott Bragg, and Ty Thomison.


A visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church.
