JoAnne Carson Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of JoAnne Fiddler Carson announce her death on June 4, 2024, at the age of 91, active and engaged to the end.

JoAnne was born on November 19, 1932, to Fern and Ted Fiddler, in what was then the small town of Elgin, Illinois. She married her beloved husband, Kenneth Carson, in Rockford, Illinois, on her high school graduation day, June 2, 1951. JoAnne, an only child, and Ken went on to build a close and loving extended family over their 66 years of marriage. They raised their family in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and soon were also spending much of each year in Naples, Florida and on Walloon Lake, Michigan, two places that were very special to them and to their families. They were long time members of the Port Royal Club and Royal Poinciana Club in Naples and the Walloon Lake Country Club in Petoskey, Michigan. JoAnne had many loves and interests in addition to her family. She traveled the world and took her family with her on countless adventures. She was an extremely accomplished quilt artist, designing, hand piecing and quilting dozens upon dozens of quilts for family and dear ones. She loved the game of bridge, and even had a duplicate bridge game planned on the night she suddenly fell ill.

Above all, JoAnne adored her family and they adored her right back. Her dear husband, Ken, predeceased her in May, 2017. She will be sorely missed but always remembered by her three children, Mike (Susan Sparrow) Carson, Michele (Harold) Jacobsen, Melinda (Mark) Muirhead, 7 grandchildren: Sarah (Julie Mack) Carson, Julie (Kevin Vranes) Carson, Harold (Julia) Jacobsen IV, Morgan (Paul Volk) Jacobsen, Kate (Mike Vicinsky) Muirhead, Lindsey (Owen Wilkerson) Muirhead, Allison Muirhead, and 11 great grandchildren: Stella, Cedar, Jules, and Hart Vranes, Berkeley and Charlie Jacobsen, Wilder and Fern Volk, Alec Vicinsky, Hazel and Emery Wilkerson.

There is no memorial service planned at this time.
